Low massive tower built in the style of the Vienna Secession is not a decorative element of the city, created for the amusement of locals and tourists, but quite functional structure: it serves as a reservoir of drinking water. The tower is located on the territory of the local hospital. It was there that it was built in 1906-1907 on a hill of 233 meters. The architect František Sander drafted a water tower made of reinforced concrete. That she did not seem too boring or distracting from the surrounding landscape, he decided to decorate it with relief with the inscription: "Water tank royal city of Pardubice," coat of arms of the city and the decorative elements reminiscent of organ pipes.
Over the installation of pumps, pumping the water company was working Antonin Kunz from border-to-Moravia. The interior was decorated in art deco style. In the center of the main hall was placed a cylinder of water, which is supported by rings of metal. Above the tank there is a gazebo, where the observation deck. There now, you can climb the spiral staircase inside the tower. Viewing platforms at the beginning of the XX century were installed on the roofs of many buildings, is no exception and the water tower.
The height of the tank was 25, 5 meters. The tower was actively used for its intended purpose, is not around her began to appear new neighborhoods, such as Polabiny, Dubin and others. The number of people living in Pardubice, has increased, so there was a need for new, more extensive water reservoirs. They were built in the mountains and Kunětická Mikulovitse.
At the beginning of the XXI century, the tower was repaired, upgraded equipment. Now it is used as a backup source of water for the local hospital.
