The most famous building in Ostrava, which, according to many locals, it is considered to be a business card - it's New Town Hall.
The five-storey building, which is adjacent to a tall, slender tower, erected a few years. In 1925, a competition for the best design project of the new City Hall Ostrava. Requirements for future building were presented the simplest: the construction was supposed to be a reflection of the time that is to be stylish, modern, functional, reasonably concise. The best project was recognized as the development of the famous architect from Brno Vladimir Fischer. The construction of the New Town Hall needed a colossal sum for those times - 52 million kroons. Presiding over the erection of this building as well as certain elements are modified on the spot two talented masters - Jan Ruba and František Kolář.
When the town hall was built, it was going to look at a good half of the city. Of particular delight caused the tower, which at a height of 72 meters is an observation deck. It leads to a comfortable elevator, so climbing to a height of stairs is not necessary. Once at the top, remember that you are standing at the Town Hall, which is considered the highest in the Czech Republic.
