Cathedral of the Ascension in Novosibirsk - is one of the major religious sites of the city. Earlier, the temple was called "Turukhansk", as he was on the same street. But after a while the street was renamed.

In 1913, the city Novonikolaevsk was built the first wooden church of the Ascension of the Lord. The temple was odnoprestolny, wood, metal roof, in a bundle with a bell tower. The ceremony of consecration of the church took place in April 1913. In 1924 the diocese was founded Novonikolaevsk, then placed the chair in the church of the bishop. In 1974, the cathedral began Repair: western part rebuilt, interior columns and walls are replaced with stone. Later, the interior was decorated with mosaics and paintings. They built an administrative building, a chapel and a landscaped area. The reconstruction of the Cathedral of the Ascension was timed to 1000th anniversary of the baptism of Rus. Reconstruction of the temple finally ended in August 1988 As a result, the cathedral became a true ornament of the city.
