Novgorod and the surrounding area is known for a variety of old monasteries located here. Among them are very well-known monasteries, but there are some that are not even known to many local residents. One of these monasteries is Perekomsky monastery, which now no longer exists. It was unimportant monastery located near the village of Dubrovo, from the west side of Lake Ilmen. The monastery was founded by St. Ephrem in 1450. In order to provide residents with water monastery, St. Ephrem dug a ditch from the lake to the monastery, hence the name.

In 1611, the Swedes destroyed the monastery, and it was restored only in 1672. In 1764 the monastery was abolished, however, in 1796, here, from Nicholas - Rozvazhskogo monastery, the monks were moved, and reopened and renamed in Perekomsky - Nicholas-Rozvazhsky. The monastery had two active churches. The main feature of the monastery was that there were relics of the monastery's founder, St. Ephraim Perekomskogo.

Born Monk Ephrem in 1412, 20 September, in the city of Kashin. The parents named him Evstafyev. Even as a teenager, Eustace left the parental home in Kalyazinskyy Trinity Monastery. He later moved to another monastery and took vows. He was given the new name of the church - Ephraim. After the vows Ephraim received the revelation of the Lord, that I should retire to a deserted place. In 1450, he moved to Lake Ilmen and put it cell. Shortly thereafter, two monks, along with the elder Thomas, also settled here, near the cell of St. Ephraim. Then he started coming here and other hermits. Yielding to their request, in 1458 he was ordained a priest Ephraim.

Then, the Rev. Ephraim immediately founded a monastery on the island and the church of the Epiphany. Then the monk dug from Lake Ilmen to the monastery of the duct, and the monastery was named Perekopskaya or Perekomskoy. Later, Monk decided to build a stone church dedicated to Saint Nicholas. Construction was completed in 1466. It was in this church of St. Ephrem was buried in 1492.

However, due to the location, the monastery was subjected to frequent flooding. There was a real danger of the destruction of buildings, and in 1509 it was moved to another location. This place was allegedly given by the Rev. Ephraim, which was the Roman abbot, his former pupil. This place was bladed. Since all the monastery buildings were demolished, the site of a former funeral chapel was built and the relics were transported along with the temple. Since that time, in May of each year, the monastery made feast day of St Ephrem.

It belonged to the monastery, located at the Volkhov bridge in Novgorod, Wonderful Cross Chapel. This chapel was built in ancient times, and it is so named because it was a miraculous cross. This eight-pointed cross, made of linden wood, he has long, with a carved image of the Crucifixion. The miracles that occurred with the cross, marked even in 1418. The city at the monastery had two tenement houses. Monastic Compound located at the intersection of Tikhvin and Razvazhskoy.

In December 1919 Perekomsky monastery was abolished. At the end of 1920 all the monastery buildings were destroyed. They dismantled for bricks. There remained only the Church of the Epiphany, who until 1930 worked as a parish. On a hot July day in 1932, the church was blown up. The relics of St. Ephraim the rest remained under the ruins of the Cathedral of the Epiphany.

The 20th century brought the monastery destruction and oblivion. It is not known when and who razed all the buildings of the monastery. But they remained in people's memory, and in 1997 on the site where once stood the temples, was built a chapel.
