Balinsasayo Lake - one of the two small but deep lake located in the crater of the volcano at a height of about 300 meters above sea level, 12 kilometers west of the town of Sibulan. The lake is located to the northwest of the narrow ridge between the four tops - Mahungot mountains, Kalbasan, Balinsasayo and Gintabon House. Nearby is another lake, the beauty is breathtaking - Lake Danao. Balinsasayo, Dan and another small lake Kabalinan part of the national park "Twin Lakes", covers an area of 8016 hectares. The park was established in 2000 by government decree Philippines.
Lake Balinsasayo affecting the diversity of ecosystems, is one of the main natural attractions of the island of Negros. The waters of the lake inhabited by many species of fish and invertebrates, including the integration of human and dipterocarp forest covering its banks, home to a huge variety of birds and mammals. Centuries-old trees, entwined with vines, giant ferns, exotic flowers such as wild orchids - that's typical ecosystems of the park. Here you can still see the tree "almadzhika" - one of the highest in the Philippines, reaching 60 meters in height.
Tourists love this place for the excellent opportunities for swimming, fishing, boating, as well as just a walk, during which you can meet amazing animals such as extremely rare Japanese night heron. In the park there is a toilet and equipped with a small dining area where you can buy drinks and snacks.
Unfortunately, the area surrounding the park, are severely affected by the timber and the coal industry. Uncontrolled logging and slash-and-burn agriculture practiced by local farmers, reduce the flow of water into the lake, resulting in a decrease in their level. That is why protection of the national park and conduct outreach with the local population is one of the main tasks in the administration of the park.
