Collection of the Bavarian National Museum originates from holding the exhibition in 1885 in the Fortress of Duke Max, whose area was soon close. Requirements to be met if the historical museum, were translated with imagination architect Gabriel von Seidl in life. The interior decoration built in 1894-1900 years of the museum complex is stylistically repeats the era, whose works are exhibited in the halls, and the appearance of architectural forms and styles of building a completely opposite inner content.

The museum exhibition includes two large collections of folk applied art and art history. In the department of arts and crafts on display made of crystal, furniture, Christmas scenes with multiple characters. Upstairs: German porcelain, clocks, paintings on glass, ivory, textiles and jewelry.
