In 1860, at the Royal Park went to Burke and Wills expedition, which was to cross Australia from south to north. On the return journey the travelers were killed, while in the park today set a cairn in memory of them.

In the early 1990s, the Royal Park conducted extensive reconstruction: a new pond was dug, reorganized parking, complete equipment exterior patio, adjacent to the park Melbourne Zoo. In 1997, we completed the planting of new plants, most of whom were Australian trees and shrubs.
