Ferris Wheel "Southern Star" - a unique attraction, opened in 2008 in Melbourne near Dokland. Its diameter - 100 meters, and height - about 120, which puts the "Southern Star" on a par with such giant Ferris wheel, as the "London Eye", "Star of Nanchang" in China and the attraction in Singapore. 21 wheel cockpit accommodates 420 people, who for half an hour make a full turn.

"Southern Star" is decorated with light emitting diodes, which are included in the dark, and create an unforgettable spectacle. The construction of this ride, which lasted from 2006 to 2008, spent about 100 million Australian dollars. However, a month after the discovery of the wheel was closed due to defective. Repairs took several months, after which the "Southern Star" was again open to the public, but, as it turned out, not for long. Since January 2011, the attraction once again carried out extensive repairs.
