El Badi Palace, situated in the southern part of the Marrakech - this is one of the city's attractions. He was elevated in 1578 by order of King Ahmad al-Mansur. A little earlier the army of Ahmed al-Mansur defeated the army of Portugal and forced them to pay a great tribute. It is the money and the palace were built with a proud name "Nonsuch".
The palace was built almost 25 years. For its construction were invited to the best masters of Andalusia and Catalonia, with the finest building materials were used at the time: the Irish granite, Italian marble and onyx color delivered by India. The ceiling and walls of the building was decorated with beautiful gilding.
However, to please the beauty of its fabulous palace could not help more than a century. After the Alawites came to power, they moved the capital in Meknes, Marrakech and left in the provincial desolate for centuries. Somewhat later, the Sultan Moulay Ismail ordered the destruction of the palace. Its demolition for 10 years, which once again demonstrates the size and luxury of the palace. Marble and gold exported in Meknes, were used as decorations for novovozvedennoy residence Alawite.
Today you can see a wall of the patio and take a walk through the magnificent gardens to orange. Even in a ruined palace it looks extremely beautiful. The most amazing part of the architecture is the courtyard, which showcases all the wealth of its owners. The palace courtyard was the largest in Marrakech because of its size is about 15 sq. M. m. The yard was so huge that all the buildings surrounding it, seem to be very narrow.
El Badi Palace disposal 360 rooms on different floors, including a large network of underground tunnels. Also in the palace between two tall pavilions, it was a huge pool of about 2 sq. M. m. Each pavilion is surrounded by two other smaller pools. At present, the places where previously pools, beautiful orange trees grow.
