Jesuit College is located at the corner of Rua do Comercio Street, in the center of Portimão. This magnificent building was built by order of the nobleman Diego Gonçalves in the XVII-XVIII centuries. Inside the church is a marble tomb Diego Gonçalves. It is worth noting that this church is considered the largest in the Algarve.

The first stone was laid in October 1660, and the opening of the college in March 1707 .  The facade is divided into three parts .  Average, the highest part of which is higher than the other two, is the entrance to the church .  Login decorated with arched pediment .  At the Lisbon earthquake in 1755 the church was damaged, but soon were conducted reconstruction work .  The front door right side of the facade is made in the Manueline style (XVI century) .  Inside the church has one nave .  The main altar and side altarpiece made of wood and elaborately decorated with gold .  Inside the church a lot of icons .  It is worth paying attention to the sculpture of the Virgin Mary with the Child - a product of the Renaissance of the XVI century, as well as other works of art XVII- XVIII centuries, such as Nossa Senhora da Piedade, (Virgin of Mercy) and Senhora dos Aflitosh (Jesus Christ Mourning) .  Just inside, visitors can see the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, which dates back to XVII century . 

In the side annexes college nowadays there are such organizations as the administration of the city of Portimao, the center for the elderly and the local organization of the Boy Scouts. There is also a museum of fine arts Diego Gonçalves, a visit which will not leave anyone indifferent.
