The process of creating and planning this kind of park occurred in several stages. Pond located here, the city was originally Malmo reservoir, created in the 1600s. Therefore, long before the creation of the park on the site, the area around the reservoir has a green area planted with willows.

After the exhibition Danish landscape designer Erstadu Jorgensen was asked to complete the construction Pildamms park in the romantic style of English parks with smooth lines and a large lawn. This project was implemented in 1915 at the other end of the pond.

In 1926, the plan Pildamms Park was again revised, and the rest of the park acquired the classical form.
