Church of St. Leodegara (German title: St. Leodegar im Hof) - the main church and a landmark in Lucerne. It was built from 1633 to 1639 years. based on the Roman basilica which burned down in 1633. This church was one of several churches built in the north of the Alps during the Thirty Years War and one of the largest and most elaborately constructed, rich in churches belonging to the German style of the late Renaissance period.
In the 8th century in what is now the Church has been the abbey, which was built on the donations of Pepin the Short, King of the Franks, and was called "The Monastery Lyutsiariya." By the 12th century the monastery was under the jurisdiction Merbakskogo Abbey, which has been the patron saint St. Leodegar. In 1291 the abbey was sold to the Habsburgs.
