Bishop's Palace

Baroque Bishop's Palace was built in the XVI-XVIII centuries after the devastating earthquake in 1511 on behalf of then bishop of Ljubljana Krystof Ravbara. The plans were prepared by the palace assistant bishop Augustine Allow invitations, architect and humanist scholar from the Slovenian town of Lasko. Later, the palace was rebuilt, but the original ground floor and the entrance is still visible from the street Makov. The modern facade was designed by architect Leopold Hofer around in 1778.

The building is part of the ensemble of the cathedral and it is connected to the cloister. At different times, there was the headquarters of Napoleon, the seat of the Illyrian rulers and lived Tsar Alexander I in 1821.
