Park Campo de Marte - this is one of the largest historical park, which is located in Lima, Peru. He is considered the "lungs" of the city because of its lush green avenues.
Prospect Peruanidat divides the park into eastern and western sectors. Parque El Campo de Marte has a length of about 750 meters and width of 450 meters. Among the main monuments erected in the park you can see the monument to the defenders of the fatherland, a monument to Mother, Jorge Chavez monument, a monument of Miguel de Cervantes.
On the western side of the park is a huge monument to the defenders of the Peruvian-Ecuadorian War in 1941 "Monumento a Los defensores de la frontera", created by sculptor Artemio Ocaña Bejarano granite with 28 bronze human figures. It was established in 1966.
On the eastern side of the park is a monument to "El Ojo que Llora", established in memory of the victims of terrorist violence and state repression during the internal armed conflict in Peru between 1980 and 2000.
In the territory of what is now the park Campo de Marte, originally in the exhibition space, and was built after the racecourse Santa Beatriz, who worked on the site from 1903 to 1938. New Hippodrome of San Felipe was built further south, but the tribune, track and field, race track remained.
