Musical Instrument Museum - a real storehouse of unique exhibits, which is part of the world-famous Museum Grassi, located in Leipzig. Exhibits presented to the public, are considered the most ancient and valuable in Europe.
Grassi Museum was founded in 1929 and was named in honor of philanthropist and banker Franz Dominic Grassi. He bequeathed to the city of Leipzig 2 million marks for charitable purposes. Its composition was created three museums, one of which became the Museum of Musical Instruments, which has collected the most unique collection.
Among the exhibits are collections stored violins, lutes, violas and flutes. The exposition of the museum with the numerous collections presented to the public in thematic halls, telling us about the different historical and time periods. On the ground floor you can see more than 600 instruments that were going on around the world. All the exhibits are placed regularly, which allows not only professionals but also ordinary tourists are fully acquainted with the fascinating history of the creation of musical masterpieces.
Here you can find the most exotic artifacts, such as Indian instruments with horsehair or African bells, made of bronze. Great organ with pipes made of porcelain is a rarity collection center, attracting a lot of attention. The Museum of Musical Instruments is a permanent exhibition entitled «In search of the perfect sound."
