Leipzig Gewandhaus Philharmonic is located in the historic center of the city, is 750 meters from the Market Square. Beginning its existence dates back to the year 1781, when the building was built for the Philharmonic Orchestra of such a talented architect Johann Carl Friedrich Daute. The name "Gewandhaus" means "house of cloth." This is due to the fact that earlier in this place is a shopping arcade, where they sold cloth.

With the Leipzig Philharmonic associated with the names of many famous composers, including Mozart, Strauss, Liszt, Tchaikovsky and Brahms.
