Angeloktistos small church, which is just ten kilometers from the Larnaca village of Kiti, known to the whole world. The church is really a unique structure, as actually consists of three separate buildings constructed in different eras. Originally on this place in the V century, there was a Christian sanctuary, but it was destroyed during one of the Arab raids.
All that remains of that construction - an apse with a unique beginning of VII century mosaic depicting the Virgin Mary who is holding baby Jesus in her arms. To the left of them is the archangel Michael, on the right - Gabriel, each of which holds a sphere, and the rod. Unfortunately, the figure of Michael is seriously damaged - there is just a head, and the hand of the garment. The images are made in the traditional manner iconography early Byzantine period. Besides this mosaic gave its name to the whole church - Panagia Angeloktistos, which means "All-Blessed Mistress of Angels".
Later, on the site of a collapsed building in the XI century Byzantine church it was built. But in the XII century built next to a small chapel in honor of Saints Cosmas and Damian. In the XIV century there was another chapel - Roman Catholic. Today it is the entrance to Angeloktistos. They have some more interesting mosaics.
The church is still in effect, although there are mainly local people come to pray. Despite the world-renowned tourist destination, it is not very popular, so there are no large concentrations of people, and no one will disturb enjoy the beauty of this place.
