Japanese Park La Serena - a wonderful theme park located on an area of 26,000 sq.m. and is the largest Japanese garden in South America. In his collection you can see plants and animals delightful country of the rising sun.
Japanese Park La Serena was built with the participation of several mining and processing companies of Chile and Japan, mainly "Compañía Minera del Pacífico" (Mining Company of Chile) and "Nippon Steel Corporation" (the Japanese steel company). Creation of the park with the typical Japanese landscape was one of the friendly settlement agreements between the twin cities of La Serena and Tenri Japanese city in 1966.
Japanese Park was officially opened on August 26, 1994 in celebration of the 450th anniversary of the founding of the city of La Serena.
Park made the project a landscape designer Akira Ohira, located in the center of La Serena near the ocean coast, opposite the park Pedro de Valdivia. In the park you can see a number of attractions, including the Japanese sakura, bamboo lattice fences, garden stones, artificial lagoon and the traditional Japanese bridge. There is also home to various species of ducks, swans swim in the pond and goldfish. Islands, lagoons, cascading waterfalls and small forest park interconnected artificial subtle track with pavilions, pagodas and bridges with elements of Japanese décor.
Japanese Garden Gate La Serena is open to visitors daily from 10:00 to 18:00 hours.
