Troop Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, like most religious buildings in the former Soviet Union, has a long and complex history. It was designed by the architects of the Kuban brothers Ivan and Elisha Blueberries, who studied at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts. It was laid in the spring of 1853, and consecrated only after long nineteen years - in 1872 because of the Crimean War and the lack of funds for construction. But is open to the faithful, he showed a real masterpiece of the Cathedral of the Byzantine-Russian style. Having a clear plan of an equilateral cross with five domes topped with gold crosses, he impressed the visitors as rich interior with a porcelain iconostasis and gilded moldings. Cathedral was the first stone church in Ekaterinodar.

At the Cathedral of the military he acted singing choir, famous all over the Kuban, which became the prototype of the now famous Kuban Cossack Choir. From the temple were connected to all the major events and ceremonial Cossack, here we preserved the core values ​​of the Cossack troops - ataman mace troop banners, Tsar's, the church books. Cathedral in 1888 took in the walls of Emperor Alexander III and Empress Maria Feodorovna and sons Nicholas and George. In 1914 the cathedral was visited by Emperor Nicholas II.

With the advent of atheism, the church was closed (in 1929), savagely plundered, one time there was a museum of atheism name of Stalin, and in May 1932 it was blown up.
