The city is a wonderful decoration Pokrovo Nicholas Church in Klaipeda. Its architecture reflects the canons and traditions of the Russian Orthodox architecture. He was laid in 2000, at a time when we started to recover and build many Orthodox churches. But its construction was going easy: prayer and donations, material costs and diligence not only priests, but also of the congregation.

In Klaipeda since 1946 he acted Orthodox church of All Saints, built in the center of the city, but eventually it was not enough for the needs of Orthodox residents so it was decided to build a new temple on the outskirts of the city. Chapels temple consecrated in honor of the Intercession of the Mother of God and St. Nicholas. It is no coincidence, as St. Nicholas of Myra has long been recognized as the patron saint of sailors and all floating on the waters and in the port city after the consecration of a temple regularly. As Our Lady of the Shroud, one of the most respected holidays in Russia, refers to the protection of the Virgin of sufferers, traveling and all Christians.

It was chosen for the construction area - Smiltyale. It was not easy to define the place for the church, because the soil was unstable, shaky. But with great difficulty did the island lasting soil was discovered. And from the beginning of construction on the site were consecrated prayers that made Archimandrite Anthony Buravtsev and Archpriest Elias Shapiro. Parishioners helped not only prayer, but also the opening of the fundraising fairs organized by them. All help than they: voluntary work carried out helped to dig a pit, built forest duty. The building is brought under the roof quickly. In St. Nicholas chapel set the "Calvary" and the iconostasis, the work of the Vilnius woodcarver Vladimir Podgorny, many icons were painted by a local artist Margarita Artamonova.

And at the dedication of the throne Nikolsky pilgrims observed unusual natural phenomena: the beginning of the procession a strong wind suddenly stopped, and the storm has calmed down over the temple flashed three rainbow as a sign that the Shroud of the Mother of God is present on them.

But still I had to go through many difficulties. The lack of material resources, the head of construction experience influenced the fact that in 2001 the works were suspended for almost three years. Not finished the construction of the church was not placed on conservation, and therefore exposed to destruction, and to continue the work it took a lot of effort, including the material.

Lithuanian Orthodox diocese in 2004 he was appointed an experienced priest - dean of Kaunas District, rector of the Cathedral of the Annunciation Anatoly Stalbovsky. Since the parish at that time was no more money had to resort to the help of sponsors, they become contributors Alexander Popov, Vladimir Romanov, Vladimir Stefanov. The funds of local entrepreneurs as the dome of the bell tower has been installed, set up the parish library. Assistance is provided to other residents of the city: decorated, settled in the temple. And now all those who participated in the construction of the temple, can be proud of such a magnificent architectural complex.

Temple built by Russian architect Dmitry Borunova. It was built specialists-builders from the workshop "Dabor" Penza. Not one new temple built their works in Russia and abroad. Buildings harmoniously blend with the natural landscape. Flowing form of the temple, half-circles, polusvody, apse give the impression of elegant figure. All building resembles the architecture of the temples of ancient Russia. On the feast of the Protection of the Mother of God in 2007, Metropolitan Chrysostom of Vilnius and Lithuania was consecrated iconostasis in the new church bells.

Currently, the church complex is almost fully completed. It built the bell tower, the church house, which opened a Sunday school and a library. It laid the foundation for the house of priests and workshops. The parishioners of this great temple was a large part of the Orthodox inhabitants of the city of Klaipeda. Who ministers to the parish and serve in the temple: Dean of Kaunas-Klaipeda district Archpriest Anatoly Stalbovsky, Archpriest of. Gregory Neguritsa, Priest Alexander Orinko.
