Literary and musical museum "Villa Chaliapin" is in the center of Kislovodsk, at the intersection of Semashko and Chaliapin, not far from the train station. The museum was founded in 1883, today it occupies the premises of the spa house, built in 1903.
The building was built in the Art Nouveau style, the author of the project was well-known at that time in Kislovodsk Khodzhaev architect Emmanuel Bagdasarovich. The first owner of the building was Pelageya Stepanovna Ushakova, wife of the influential merchant, who handed over the reasonably priced rooms for hire. In 1914, the house with all the shopping facilities came into the possession of the Cossack General GN Abrezovu. In 1917, the country went Fyodor Chaliapin and his family. After that, behind the building got the name "Villa Chaliapin," which came to the present day. In 1917 the house was nationalized, after which there functioned hostel, housed a variety of services, including sanatorium Semashko.
Currently, the mansion holds literary-musical Museum "Villa Chaliapin", which is one of the most important cultural centers of the city.
