Church of St. Nicholas the waterfront - one of the churches in Kyiv Podil, dedicated to Saint Nicholas. This temple is one of the masterpieces, which had a hand in the famous architect Ivan Grigorovich-Barsky. Church of St. Nicholas Naberezhny made in the typical style of the Cossack Temple, which combines the features of Ukrainian baroque and classicism. The only thing that lubricates the impression of a temple, it's bell tower, erected at St. Petersburg to popular model, and therefore unremarkable.

The temple is known even to the XI century, but the first precise mention of it date back to the year 1543 .  In the XVII century the temple was burned, and in its place built a new church, too, wooden .  In its present form the church Nicholas Naberezhny appeared in 1775 .  Just near the place where once stood its predecessor .  The model for the new building was the church of the Three Hierarchs of the villagers Lemeshi addition, the temple was decorated with original paintings .  However, during the Kyiv fire in 1811 the church was severely damaged by fire, and the painting of the XVIII century was destroyed .  For this reason, in the 30 years of the nineteenth century it had to paint the church again .  The final design of the interior of the temple took place in the 50s, at the same time there appeared carved iconostasis, preserved to our days .  Performs later paintings were made by masters who did not have proper training, so they are not considered securities .  The main Church of St. Nicholas masterpiece Naberezhny is considered an icon of St. Nicholas of Myra, written in the first half of XVII century . 

Until the 60s of the twentieth century, the temple was the only force in the Podil, but during the regular persecution and closed it. In 1992, it again gave the faithful. Today, the church belongs to the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church.
