Kherson Regional Museum, located on Lenin Street - is a museum complex historical, ethnographic, the natural history, literary trends. The museum was founded in 1890 by the famous Ukrainian archaeologist, ethnographer and public figure VI Goshkevichem.

The funds of the regional museum there are about 150 thousand museum pieces, among them one of the best in Ukraine, archaeological and unique collections of antique coins of the Northern Black Sea city, a huge set of samples of firearms and bladed weapons 15 - 20 st .; a collection of hunting rifles 18 - 19 Art., a rich collection of antique furniture and porcelain.

All variety of antiques presented in the Department of History (Scythian gold jewelry, ancient Greek marble sculptures, Cossack weapons, the first drawings of the Kherson fortress, works of art of past centuries).

A special place in the museum holds an exhibition dedicated to the founding of the city of Kherson, and related historical figures: G. Potemkin, Suvorov and Ushakov.

In the literary department of the Kherson regional museum presents valuable collections of prints and ex libris, original paintings, manuscripts, unique book editions, history and memorabilia of famous writers: Tolstoy, Pushkin, D. Burliuk, O. Kruchonih, and M. Kulish B. Lavrenev.

The natural history department exhibited a unique collection of flora and fauna of the Kherson region, gathered in the late 19th st. known biologist J. Pachoskovskim. The real gem of this department is an exposition dedicated to the amazing world of the Lower Dnieper, the estuary of the Black and Azov Seas.
