Museum of Oceanography and Fisheries, located at the National Center for Marine and Fisheries Research, is considered the only Ukrainian specialized research institutes. This organization is engaged in a detailed study of the living marine resources. The database, located at the institute, is a wealth of information, based on the study of various industries related directly to the Black Sea region, as well as areas of the oceans.

The desire to create a museum of flora and fauna occurred after people began to learn from sailors traveling to distant lands, about the species of fish and animals. They told different stories about what they had seen quite strange, but at the same time and interesting creatures. Therefore the city authorities had decided to organize the exhibition. Then people began to bring in and YugNIRO variety of exhibits from around the world. The museum opened in 1962. Over time, the exhibits accumulated so much that needed to increase the area of ​​the museum. I got up, even the question of whether to allocate a separate room, in order to fit everything in one building. Since the space is not found, it had to limit the number of exhibits.

It must be said that the exposition of the museum consists of marine flora and fauna, collected from around the world. In total, the museum has about four thousand different items. Traveling to the museum can be found such objects: goblin shark, which is now considered to be extinct, and sawfish, living in the Indian and Pacific oceans, the Atlantic. Here we can also observe the unusual structure of the hammerhead shark's head, which gives her the ability to surround beautiful view, as well as the ability to feel for many kilometers the smell of blood. Special attention is paid, and other interesting objects, such as swordfish, marlin, sailfish fish (weight category up to 700 kilograms), stone perch length of about four meters.

Particular attention is paid by tourists in the study of numerous predstaviteey crustaceans, such as crabs - their scale paws up to two meters, crabs horseshoe crabs (the view is more than 520 million years), the Black Sea lobster, crayfish isopod isopods and crabs bears. Also in the museum is a huge variety of turtles, sea sponges, corals, penguins and other interesting sea creatures.

The tour through the halls of the museum is always done with a guide who will tell about all the exhibits many interesting facts. Also, the museum organizes traveling exhibitions, where you can see the unique photographs taken during the expedition on different ships. At the same time, you can consider in detail the various equipment, which was used by divers and see the models of research and fishing vessels.
