Mount Mithridates - the main attraction of the city of Kerch, the height of the mountains as high as 92 meters. From the top you can admire the wonderful view of Kerch Bay. To get to the top of the mountain you need to go through Mitridatskoy stairs in her 436 steps. The staircase was designed by Italian architect Digby in 1833-1840 years.

Here it was located the ancient city Panticapaeum. And the mountain was named in honor of the king of Pontus Mithridates, who ruled here in 132-136 years BC, conquered the kingdom of Bosporus and was killed in the war with the Romans. King Mithridates was a very ordinary person, a descendant of Alexander the Great.

On the hill since the 19th century archaeological excavations underway. Under the residential area is a huge necropolis, partially destroyed passages dug by looters - Relic Hunter. Archaeologists and speleologists believe that Mount Mithridates conceals more than 3, 5 thousand ancient crypts, of which scientists have studied only a few hundred.

On the mountain is one more important historical event. During World War II, and more specifically in 1943, after a bitter siege, the troops 318 Novosibirsk division, broke through a tight defense and the Nazis could still raise the red flag on top of Mount Mithridates. A few days later the territory of Kerch was completely liberated from the invaders.

On the mountain you can see the obelisk of Fame, which was established in 1944. And the eternal fire, which reminds us of the heavy fighting during the liberation of Kerch.
