Tahtali Mountain, also known as Mount Olympos, is the hallmark of the Turkish resort of Kemer and the highest peaks of the National Park of Olympos, Beydaglari. The height of the mountain is 2365 meters above sea level, so it can be seen from almost any point of Kemer, besides it is perfectly visible from the sea. The name of the mountain - "Tahtali" - in Turkish means "plank", "with the boards."

Part of the mountain, which is less than 1900 meters, is very rich in vegetation and looks emerald green. But above that mark all vegetation disappears. From January to April Tahtalı slopes are always covered with snow and ice. In the spring months all this splendor is colored red due to blowing winds from the Sahara, bringing the mountain sand characteristic color.

With a history of the mountain Tahtali associated large number of myths and legends, and the locals in general consider it one of the most mysterious mountains of Turkey .  The famous Greek writer Homer mentions Mount Olympos in his well-known work "The Iliad" .  He says that the mythical chimera, a monster with the body of a goat, a lion's head and tail of a snake, lived near Olympos .  The hero of the poem Bellerophon to fight the monster threw it on top of the mountain, which is now called Mount Chimera .  The beast did not die and continues to live inside it .  It is constantly spewing out of the ground in flames, it is clearly distinguishable in the dark .  Nowadays, it is known that this unique process is associated with the presence of natural gas in the mountain that overlooks the mountain and surface seeps through it in a concentration sufficient for its open-burning .  It is also believed that the name of the monster Chimera was the name and the city of Kemer .
