Church of Our Lady of "Kazan" in the craft villages - is acting Orthodox Church, located in the working-class suburbs. The initiator of the foundation of the temple in craft villages was made an honorary citizen of Irkutsk, gold mines and explorer of the North and Siberia, philanthropist AM Siberians. After the revolution, the church remained active for another 18 years. However, in 1936 the church suffered the same fate as that of all Russian temples - it was closed. Since 1936, the church was used as a warehouse and factory base Bookstore "Siberian Souvenir". The temple buildings were capital walls, floors and many bulkheads.

It was only in October 1988 under the decision of local authorities began work to restore the church. This project was developed by a leading architect of Irkutsk restoration workshops L. Gurov. In October 1990, recovery continued small business "Renaissance". Restoration of the Church of Our Lady of Kazan was conducted on donations of local residents and organizations.
