Polish Baltic Philharmonic Chopin - Concert Hall in Gdansk, on the island of Ołowianka in a former city power plant.

The building of the power plant was built in 1898 in neo-Gothic style. The power station operated until 1996, until it was converted into a philharmonic.

Himself Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in 1945, and the first concert was held September 29, 1945 in Sopot. By 1949, the orchestra has grown to 81 people, and has been classified as one of the best orchestras in Poland. In recognition of the high level of the orchestra, he was called the State of the Baltic Philharmonic.

In 1953 he joined the Philharmonic with the opera in the State Opera and the Baltic Philharmonic. The new organization was headed by Kazimierz. The final separation of the opera took place in 1993, and then headed the Roman Philharmonic Perutsky. Professor Roman Perutsky is a well-known organ virtuoso and winner of numerous international awards. He performs all over the world and is considered the founder of the International Festival of Organ Music.

An independent institution - the Polish Baltic Philharmonic Chopin urgently needed a new location. And so, after reconstruction in a former power station, the Philharmonic has found a permanent home.

To date, the Philharmonic building are located: the main concert hall with 1000 seats, a chamber hall with 200 seats, two multipurpose halls, foyer (exhibition hall).
