Ai-Todorsky lighthouse in Gaspra - it is not just one of the attractions of the Crimean it relics of the Russian Navy. The lighthouse was established in 1835 on the site formerly located here ancient Roman signal tower built at the time of her leaving only ruins. The initiator of the construction of I-Todorsky lighthouse was made commander in chief of the Black Sea Fleet, Admiral MP Lazarev.

On a hillside near the lighthouse preserved old trees, remnants of south coastal woods with a history of more than a hundred years. Grow here mostly junipers, oaks and pistachio trees. The most valuable is the pistachio tree growing near the lighthouse - he has more than a thousand years. This tree is one of the oldest trees of the Crimea, so it is officially entered in the Red Book.

Cape Ai-Todor has a very interesting shape. He seemed juts out into the sea three spurs, called "Neptunian trident." The southernmost and highest it "tooth" is Ai-Todorsky spur, which in ancient times served as a true landmark for sailors. Once upon a time this place was located a Roman fortification, named by archaeologists as the Kharaks. Installed at Cape signal light tower made it impossible to circumvent the danger of making visible in the darkness rocky shores.

Many years have passed, but in spite of this, little has changed in the surrounding rocks, water surface and shorelines, and while there is a sea, there will be a beacon pointing the direction of the shore.

Ai-Todorsky lighthouse whose light can be seen in the sea for 50 miles, still stands at the top of the spur. It is a historical and cultural value, and quite able to fulfill all its functionalities. Today the territory of the lighthouse can be accessed only with special permits, which can be obtained in Sevastopol.
