Marly Tower - is the oldest architectural monument of the city of Gagra. Strengthening is located at the mouth of the river Zhoekvara, not far from the famous Abkhaz Abaata fortress. The tower was named after the Decembrist Bestuzhev-Marly, who served in the garrison.

The facility was built to ensure the safety of the fortress located in the garrison, from the endless attacks of warlike mountaineers of the North-West Caucasus. Therefore Marly tower was erected in the place where mountaineers could pass a ridge and move on to another. By order of General Muravyov-Amur in a radius of about two kilometers from the castle, including the gorge Zhoekvara where the tower was cut down forest. Go Highlanders is the only place crossing.

Marly Tower is a building guard. It was made into a cylindrical shape and built of stone boulders somewhere in the middle of the nineteenth century. It is interesting that the construction of the strengthening of the lieutenant colonel in charge of the KP Danzas, which the famous Russian poet Alexander Pushkin a few years earlier, he invited to be his second in a duel with Dantes.

Up to the present day is located in the resort town of Gagra Tower Marly, unfortunately, not completely preserved. From it were only picturesque ruins in green summer trees. The destruction of the tower a hundred years after its construction contributed to severe flooding that occurred in 1940. Currently, the remnants of the fortress wall of gray represent a fence that separates the two private homes.
