Eger is famous for its healing thermal springs, and bathing culture of Eger has a long history. It is known that since ancient times the inhabitants of the city used to warm water bathing lakes formed from hot springs. And the first written mention of Carthusian Baths in Eger is dated 1448 year. Later they expanded baths, and their fame grew.
During the Turkish rule Eger bath experienced real heyday - at the beginning of the 17th century were built "Ilidza" - bath and "hammams" - paired, since for them it was possible to talk about how the whole bathing complex. It should be noted that the construction of baths was conducted across the country, because the need for them "new" population was cheorzvychayno high. Here is a quote from a surviving orders of Sultan Suleiman, dating back to the year 1564: "In the town of Tolna number of Muslims has increased so much that ... there is a need in the pool." Thus, each city should have at least one swimming pool. One can only be surprised that in Hungary to have survived only a few Eger and Budapest baths.
In 2008-2009, after the reconstruction carried out by the famous architect Akos Kasaba, Turkish Baths opened its doors to all who want to relax, to their services: thermal pools of different temperatures, 15 different types of massage, steam bath, sauna, infra-cabin, aromatic shower, hammam.
