The Hofgarten Park is a very popular place for rest and walks in Dusseldorf. It occupies about 28 hectare, of which nearly half are beautiful and manicured lawns. It offers a wonderful view not only of the embankment of the river Rhine and the castle Yegerhof.
The history of this amazing place began in the XVI century, when the park was only a royal garden, fenced walls. But, unfortunately, in 1795, French troops, who entered in Dusseldorf, began actively to conduct the construction of various fortifications in the park. For this reason, it was almost completely destroyed and devastated.

In order to consistently produce work to care for the plants, and the whole territory, it has been specially built house for the gardener. In 1926, the park was built Erenhof required for significant exhibition dedicated to the welfare of the population, as well as health and physical education.
Despite the fact that during the Second World War and subsequently suffered Hofgarten carried out reconstruction work, now the park is called the "lungs" of the town. Here, visitors are presented with modern sculptures and historical monuments. One of them is dedicated to Veje Maximilian, who made a great contribution to the development and improvement of this wonderful place. Of particular interest is a monument to soldiers who died in the wars for unification.
