Dubai Zoo is the oldest not only in the UAE but in the entire Arabian Peninsula, in addition it is the first Arabian zoo, which started breeding Arabian wild cats and rare species of chimpanzees .  Built in 1967 with the approval of law at the time of Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the zoo, taking by today's standards a relatively small area of two hectares, located in Jumeirah .  Then the area was just a poor city suburbs, it is not like a modern center of Dubai with its luxury buildings and tourist infrastructure .  Zoo contained in itself at first only a few animals, mostly they were wild cats, monkeys and hoofed animals .  But in 1971 the right to manage the zoo moved to the municipality of Dubai, which in turn led him major reconstruction .  As a result, much has changed not only the appearance of the zoo, but also significantly increased the diversity of animals represented here .

Now Dubai Zoo is one of the attractions of the city and is very popular among those who came on holiday with small children. But walk through it will be interesting not only for children. Although this is a very small zoo here, however, you can see the animals and birds that were brought from around the world - about 230 species, as well as 400 species of reptiles. In addition, pets are among the zoo there are representatives now considered endangered species like the Bengal and Siberian tigers, gorillas, wolves and Arabian wild cat Gordon.
