Fort Al Fahizhi was erected in 1799 to protect the city from the sea and is the largest fort in Dubai. At various times, the fort served as the residence of the governor, a barracks and a prison. Now here is the National Museum.

Upper exposition of the museum tells about the military history and the history of the city. Under the tower is the oldest underground museum. Colorful dioramas, figures of people in life-size, sound and lighting effects allow to imagine life in Dubai doneftyanuyu era. Galleries recreate former appearance Bay, traditional Arab houses, mosques, bazaars, palm groves, episodes from the life of the inhabitants of the desert and the sea. Among the most impressive exhibits - paintings with figures of the underwater world of pearl divers. Here are exhibited vintage scales and sieves used by traders pearls.

The museum handicrafts, including those found in excavations in Al-Gusayse remarkable objects of copper, alabaster and clay, whose age is from 3 to 4 thousand years.
