National Park Northern Forest located around the highest volcano Morne Diablotins, height of 1447 m above sea level. On the slopes of the volcano in the forests are two very rare subspecies of the Caribbean parrot, which belongs to local attractions .  One of them is called parrot-Sisseru (his middle name "Imperial Parrot" or "Imperial Amazon") and is the national bird and symbol of Dominica .  Sisseru are found in the north-eastern and eastern slopes of the volcano Morne Diablotins, in moist thickets of tropical forests .  The number of birds is very small, so they declared an endangered species and are protected by various organizations, including the laws of Dominica .  Sisseru impressive, and its appearance as the size and coloring .  This is the largest bird among the parrots, they reach a length of an average of 50 cm, and its feathers are painted with rainbow colors: purple on the body, on the back of the green, black tail and head and purple on the neck .  On the shoulder and on the inner side of the wings redden red feathers and red-eye orange circles .  It is interesting that in captivity the birds live longer than in the wild, where the average age is 75 years old .  We also know that sisseru - Monogamous .  Another kind of - it Jacquot parrot Amazona or arausiaca - green parrot with beautiful red-necked .  In the park there are several viewing platforms for bird watching . 

Also parrots in the park is found many other representatives of the fauna: large tree frogs, 20 lizard species, about 55 species of butterflies, 13 species of bats. In addition, there live a large number of snakes such as boa boa constrictor, and poisonous snakes no audio. The park grows a lot of ferns and trees with huge roots, characteristic of the tropics.
