One of the five oldest urban parks in Bulgaria is located in the town of Dobrich. By the time of its founding this park, created in 1867, ahead of the other, located in Varna, Ruse and Burgas. Initially it covered an area of ​​15 000 square meters. m, but today only one lake covers an area of ​​18 000 sq. meters. The large pond in the central park of Dobrich makes one of the few cities that can boast of such a landmark.

First, in the park of St. George, which is located near the city center, there were four main avenues in width from 3 to 5 meters. The line of these walking paths took place throughout the park space. When used in landscaping mostly drought-resistant plants: aloe, yucca, agave.

During the Russian-Turkish war for the maintenance of order in the park no one watched. However, after the Liberation of the local population actively assisted in the recovery and ennoblement of the territory was in ruins.

In the 50 years of the last century, when Dobrich received the status of the district center, the park has been expanded considerably. Covering an area of ​​430,000 square meters. meters have been built football stadium, playground, in the eastern part - equipped small artificial ponds and cliffs, waterfalls, caves, and there appeared gymnastic facilities and sports complex "Mladost", summer swimming pool, theater and much more.

A modern reconstruction of the city park began in 2004. During the first phase it has been restored the oldest part of the park. Lawns have been updated, repaired roadway lanes, troubleshoot lighting. With its location, layout and composition solution of this territory it was given the status of a monument of landscape art of the park.

In subsequent stages it was updated to the part where the tennis courts are available. In the future it is planned to restore the rose garden, which used to be in a place called "Derveni hail." The project - equipping area with all facilities for active sports such as skateboarding, biking, rock climbing, paintball, water sports, and others. Now park visitors can have fun, ride a scooter on the lake or catamaran. Swimming and fishing in the lake is prohibited.
