The Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity in the center of Dobrich - it's not just a big beautiful temple, it is also an emblem of the city. The history of the church began in 1856. Previously (since 1783), this place was another temple, and consecrated in honor of the Holy Trinity. It was destroyed in 1859, and here erected a new basilica, whose consecration took place two years later. However, due to the small size and inability to hold a sufficient number of the faithful the building it was also decided to demolish. The foundation of the latter, the modern temple was laid June 29, 1905; Work continued until 1908. As the chief architect of the project was Petko Momchilov from Sofia. Funds for the construction of the church were largely collected through numerous donations from residents. The consecration of the church was conducted by Metropolitan Simeon in 1912.
The Basilica was built in accordance with the traditions of the Bulgarian church architecture - the temple of the cross-dome, with three semi-cylindrical apses in the altar area and the porch. At the main entrance there is a porch supported by four massive columns, and above it - the bell tower dome. Two of the temple are located on the sides - the north and south sides.
The building is in the neo-Byzantine style of the Renaissance, became widespread in Bulgaria in the period after the Liberation. The walls of the church built on the principle of "hidden number" - the type of masonry, in which alternate acting and move back, hidden behind a layer of white plaster rows of bricks. The porch and the windows are richly decorated Basilica of decorative elements of stone.
In times of Metropolitan Joseph basilica it was painted. Fresco made a group of artists led by Professor N. Kozhuharova. The carved iconostasis and bishop's throne belongs to the talented craftsman Ivan Kaseva: wooden objects decorated with elaborately carved floral ornaments, representatives of the animal world. Marble columns with capitals and the Holy See - the result of work H. Leonidieva. Many in the church interior elements covered with gold leaf.
In 1997 the building was carried out large-scale reconstruction. On the territory adjacent to the temple garden, and the building is surrounded by a living wall of trees, shrubs, flower beds.
