Village Hauz Khas, situated in the southern part of the national capital Delhi, is a large complex, once consisting of a huge swimming pool, madrassas (Islamic seminaries), a mosque and several pavilions built around a small village nearby, which appeared in the XIII century, during days of the Delhi Sultanate. At that time, Hauz Khas was part of the second largest city in the Sultanate - Siri, which was ruled Allaudin Khildzhi.

The name "Haus Khas" comes from the language of Urdu: "house" means a pond or pool, and "Khas" - royal.

Initially, during the governor Khildzhi was only created a huge body of water, which was supposed to provide water to all residents of Siri. Later, during the reign of the next monarch - Firuz Shah Tughlaka (1351-1388) dynasty Tughlak in the territory of Hauz Khas, there were other buildings: madrasas, a small mosque, six pavilions, domed and Firuz Shah in advance take care of your body after death - tomb built for himself. In addition, at the initiative of the ruler of the pool itself has been updated, refined and expanded.

Madrasah in Hauz Khas was built in 1352 and immediately became a leading educational institution in the whole of Delhi Sultanate .  It is also considered the largest and most well-equipped of the Islamic seminary in the world .  Therefore, Delhi has acquired great importance in the Islamic world, becoming, after the fall of Baghdad, the most popular city among those Muslims who sought to learn about the Islamic religion as much as possible .  Madrasseh is L-shaped, and has been constructed along a water reservoir .  One part has a length of 76 meters, and the other - 138 m .  And right at their junction, on the corner, it is the tomb of Firuz Shah .  The governor died at the age of 90 after a long illness .  His tomb is a rectangular building, built of local quartzite, so when the sun shines it shines and shimmers .  Its architecture is mixed, as was traditional, Indian and Islamic style, but at the same time, it is characterized by simplicity and the absence of details of the various decorative elements .  In the crypt there are three graves of Firuz Shah, his son and grandson .

On the north side of the madrasa is a mosque. It is the only room with a domed roof is quite small in size - about 5 meters long and 2, 5 meters wide. Double pleased columns surrounds the open prayer "platform" under the open sky.

On the other hand madrasa is a large garden, which was built six great pavilions, gazebos. They all have different sizes and shapes, but each of them has a dome-shaped roof, which is supported by columns carved.
