District Chadni Chowk is located in the northern part of the capital of India - Delhi City. In the language of Urdu, "Chadni Chowk" means "area, moonlit." This site was created in the XVII century, during the reign of the great Muslim Emperor Shah Jahan of India, and the project area has been designed by his daughter Jahan Ara. Chadni Chowk almost immediately gained fame as one of the largest and busiest shops of Old Delhi.

Initially, the area stretched almost across the city - from the Lahore Gate of the Red Fort to Fatehpur Mosque (Masjid Fatehpur), and was divided into three sections by small water channels, which, unfortunately, up to now almost did not survive. The name of the district was, by the way, it was through these channels - at night the moonlight reflected on the water surface and fill the whole neighborhood his mysterious shimmer. By tradition, all the solemn procession in which participated the Emperor passed through Chadni Chowk. And in our time, this street is one of the busiest in New Delhi.

The area is located in the historic city - Shahzhahanabad, and on its territory there is a large number of cultural relics, monuments and religious shrines. How, for example, Sri Digambar Jain Lal Mandir - the oldest Jain temple of Delhi, established in 1656. Gauri Shankar Hindu Temple (1761). One of the nine Sikh shrines - Ganj Gurdwara Sahib, built in 1783. Sunehri Masjid - Muslim mosque (1721), and it is standing on its roof in 1739. Persian ruler Nadir Shah invaded India, ordered to kill anyone who got in his field of vision - all in one day killed about 30 thousand people. The famous Fatehpur Masjid - Muslim mosque, built in 1650 one of the wives of Shah Jahan.

But most of all Chadni Chowk, of course, is famous for its arcades and the market. The most outstanding feature of this place is the fact that virtually all the goods sold there is domestic production, ranging from food and clothing to electronics.
