Wat Bupharam located in close proximity to the center of Chiang Mai, surrounded by ancient walls and a moat, was founded in 1497 during the reign of King Muang Kaew. The temple complex includes two viharn (common room), one ubosot room (monks), a chedi (stupa), Hall of Dharma (Buddha's teachings) and the well of holy water.

One of the oldest structures in the wool Bupharam chedi is built in a combination of Burmese and Mon style more than 4 centuries ago. White chedi with a golden spire on all sides of the world guarded Singh (mythical lions) on all its four sides is the image of Buddha.

A small viharn in Lanna style was built only in the XVI century, its present appearance even more modern, the building was renovated in 1819. Age large statue of Buddha on the altar viharn has about 300 years. The second, larger viharn was built 2 centuries ago, inside it is decorated with incredibly beautiful murals depicting Jataka stories, ancient Buddhist epic. Small ubosot in the temple is made later in Lanna style, and holy water from the well in the old days sprinkled future rulers of the kingdom of Lanna.

The largest building in the Wat Bupharam - a two-storey hall Dharma or otherwise Hall Ho Monthian. It was created in 1996 in a somewhat unconventional style, the room has a cruciform shape. Its entrance is guarded by Makara, the mythical beast. The Dharma Hall is the largest in Thailand Buddha statue, made of teak. Age figure called Phra Buddha Narita depicting Buddha in Bhumisparsha is more than 400 years. In the hall of the Dharma and kept marvelous frescoes, one of which is a map of all the temples in Chiang Mai.

The small garden in front of the temple involves not the typical Buddhist figure of Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse and other Disney characters.
