Church of Santa Ana, located in the eponymous square Caserta, particularly revered by the people, as St. Anne, along with Saint Sebastian is the patron of the city .  The church was built in the 17th century on the site of a small ancient temple of Madonna di Loreto .  During the Second World War the building was badly damaged by air strikes, and was subsequently fully restored .  From the original design preserved only the foundation and facade, but the interior has been re-done in a modern style .  Among the works of art adorning the church, you can see the statue of St. Anne of the 18th century, donated by the church faithful, and especially revered by the feast day of a saint, a bust of Christ in a crown of thorns, the statue of St. Antonio Abate, a sculpture of the Madonna di Loreto and several bronze plaques on the portal of the facade depicting scenes from the life of Madonna and Jesus .  Every year in July in Caserta festival is held holy worship when there is a solemn procession through the streets to the Church of Santa Ana .

The area on which stands the church - Piazza Santa Anna - is a kind of boundary between the historic center of Caserta and the southern part of the city. There also is a building of the former city hospital, which had been abandoned for many years, and now converted into a residence of the regional Ministry of Finance of Italy. Opposite the church is visible monument to the Virgin Mary made of stone and marble, erected in 1956.
