National Park "Aspromonte" is located in the southern part of the Apennine Mountains in the Italian region of Calabria. It is composed of the top of the Aspromonte mountain range, reaching two thousand meters in height (Montalto Mountain - 1955 meters). And at the foot of steep mountains lapping Mediterranean. Aspromonte name translates from Italian as "impassable mountains" - a name given array farmers who found it steep slopes and rocky soil difficult to cultivate.

The territory of the national park "Aspromonte", the crossroads of several waterways, inhabited by a variety of animal species, among which the most common are the wolves. Bird's kingdom is represented by birds of prey - peregrine falcon, goshawk and the eagle owl. Vast areas of the park are covered with forests - beech, black and white fir, stone oaks, chestnuts and Mediterranean maquis shrubs. And in the short coastal strip there are citrus, grapes and olive trees. Only here, in the southern part of the Aspromonte, grow rare bergamot - lemon-yellow fruit used in the manufacture of perfumes and the famous tea "Earl Grey".

In addition to the environmental value, national park 'Aspromonte, "it is historical, artistic and archaeological value, because these territories since ancient times been inhabited by a variety of tribes. Residents of some villages in the territory of the park, have Greek roots and kept the Greek culture and tradition.

Today, the park hosts numerous tours introducing the heritage of these places.
