Torre di San Pancrazio and the Torre del Elefante - medieval tower located in the city of Cagliari in the historical quarter of Castello.

Torre San Pancrazio was built in 1305, the year of the reign of the city of Pisa. Above the project worked its Sardinian architect Giovanni Capula, which also was the author of the Torre del Elefante, built two years later, and Torre del Aquila, partially destroyed in the 18th century and is now embedded in the Palazzo Boyle. Tower of San Pancrazio was part of the defense system of the city, built to protect the Pisans Cagliari from the raids of the Saracen pirates and attacks competing Genoese. To build a tower from a nearby hill, Colle di Bonaria was brought white limestone. The very Torre di San Pancrazio has a wall thickness of up to three meters and gates, which together with the gate of the Torre del Elefante are still the main entrance to the Castello quarter. During the reign of the dynasty of Aragon Torre di San Pancrazio it was rebuilt and used as a prison. In 1906 the tower was restored.

Torre del Elefante, also built in the 14th century to defend the city, reaches the 31 th meters in height. The three sides of the tower were built of white limestone hill Colle di Bonaria, and the fourth was open and had four floors of wooden galleries. This tower also has been modified during the time of the Aragonese dynasty, and also served as a prison, and its walls hung out for all to see heads of executed criminals. In 1906 the Torre del Elefante was restored.
