The Atomium was built in 1958 for the opening of the World Exhibition "Expo" and was a symbol of the atomic age and the use of atomic energy for peaceful purposes. It is a model of a molecule of iron height of 102 meters and weighing 2,400 tons, consisting of spheres and coated steel liner. Six areas are connected to the pipe hidden corridors and escalators to access the visitors inside the structure.
