The Cathedral is the center of the medieval city, its life and development. In 985 the Moors destroyed the original is here a temple built in the IV century and was of great importance since it is here that it was a meeting of the church council in 559. During 1046-1058 years on the site of the temple was built the Romanesque cathedral. In 1289 by decree of King James II of Aragon began construction of the Gothic cathedral, which was completed in 1448, but its facade and the magnificent spire was created in neo-Gothic style in the late XIX century, thanks to the generosity of a banker, mayor, Manuel Girona.
The interior of the cathedral is striking a magnificent rigor and harmonious elongated columns, elegant arches with cross ornaments multicolor scheme.
