The history of the market originates from the Middle Ages, from the early 13th century. Initially it was a place where they sold meat, and then the pigs. In those days the market was at the city gates, and there could exhibit their products visiting merchants. Until 1794, the market was known as Mercat Bornet or Mercat de la Palla («straw market").

First, the market is an open area, surrounded by columns, on which the trade was conducted, and which is subsequently planned to build. But for a long time the market had no official status, because any work on the device it has not been. And only in 1826 the site was officially recognized as a market. In 1840, it began to erect the building market pavilion on the project and under the supervision of Mas Vila. The official opening of the year 1853 is considered Bokeria. In 1911, the territory Bokeria opened a new fish market in 1914 has created a new metal roof, which has been preserved until now.

Today Boker visited daily lot of people. It built a long, neat rows of stalls where you can find anything: a huge range of meat products, cheeses, sausages, mushrooms, fish, seafood, beautifully laid out fruit, vegetables, sweets and desserts.
