Historical Museum of Balchik was opened in 1937, the museum building is near the city's Ethnographic Museum. The exposition was based on artifacts found Karel Sheopilom, experienced archaeologist in 1907.

The life of the museum can be divided into two stages: before 1940, while Balchik was under Romanian occupation, and after, when most of the exhibits were evacuated to Romania. Today, the museum exhibited the finds collected after 1940.

In the historical museum, you can see most of the archaeological finds, scientists have found that in the course of work on the territory of the region. Through exhibits, it can be argued that the creation and development of the city began in ancient times and continued in the Middle Ages.

In addition, the museum houses finds from the temple of Cybele (3 millennium BC), who was buried under the ground because of the earthquake in the VI century. Ruins of a temple discovered in 2007 alone. In the church are well preserved marble statues, which are also exhibited in the museum. Among the fragments of the sanctuary have been deciphered inscriptions 27 and restored the image, dedicated to the goddess Cybele. Today visit this place can everyone, however, a full-fledged museum remains of the temple has not suffered - he remained in a deep pit.

The exhibition, devoted to modern history presents documents and photos relating to the period of the Romanian occupation of Balchik and South Dobrudzha.
