Paleontological Museum of Asenovgrad rightly considered one of the most interesting in the country. Its exposure is based on the collection of fossils collected over thirty years, amateur scientist Dimitar Kovachev, along with local schoolchildren. Over time, however, the collection of artifacts has become much broader through the work of many specialists, and museum staff includes professional paleontologists. The first exposition of the museum was officially opened in 1995 and focuses primarily on the evolution of prehistoric animals. According to experts, one of the most important exhibits presented in it is the fossilized skeleton of a dinosaur four-meter Turoliana Dinoteriuma delivered here from Ezerovo.

Somewhat later the exposition, located on the second floor of the museum. In its thirty halls visitors can get acquainted with the diversity of flora and fauna of the prehistoric period of the Mesozoic era Bulgaria.

The Paleontological Museum presented the only fully preserved skeleton of a prehistoric hyena found in Bulgaria, and the only surviving entire head saber-toothed tiger. The already impressive fund of the museum complement the ocean fossil marine corals, fossils of reptiles and turtles.
