Ancient city of Los Millares - this ancient village, located 17 km north of the modern boundaries of Almeria. The city covers an area of ​​nearly 2 hectares, existed in this place since the end of the 4th century to the end of the 2nd century BC Los Millares is located on a high plateau, which is surrounded by the river Andaras. The population of the city during its heyday reached one thousand. Los Millares - it is not only the name of the ancient city, known as the ancient culture, which replaced the Almerian (Ibero-Saharan) culture. For the first time the remains of the ancient city were accidentally discovered in 1891 during construction of the railway. After some time, the excavations were initiated under the supervision of archaeologist Luis Siret. The archaeological work and research conducted here to this day.

Ancient city of Los Millares is a settlement surrounded by defensive walls and the ancient cemetery. As part of the research was carried out radiocarbon analysis, through which it became clear that one of the walls was rebuilt around 3025 BC

Thanks to the excavations scientists found that in Los Millares was developed agriculture, ceramics, residents also owned equipment metal, copper smelting. There were found ceramics with various designs, weapons, tools of stone and copper ornaments, vessels, tissue fragments and other items.

Los Millares reveals most aspects of life the Copper Age, it also explains a lot in the process of changing historical periods, the transition of the Neolithic to the Bronze Age.
