Mount Wildstrubel

Wildstrubel - glaciated mountain in the Bernese Oberland between Lenk and Adelboden in the north and the south of the village Ronetal. In earlier times, the mountain was called Braytays, which literally means "broad ice." Despite the fact that the Wildstrubel is located north of the main body of the Bernese Alps, here lies the border between the cantons of Bern and Valais. Massif includes three identical highest mountain: directly Wildstrubel, also called Lenkershtrubel (3243, 5 meters above sea level); High Top (also 3243, 5 meters above sea level); Grossshtrubel (3243 meters above sea level).

In the north-west end Wildstrubel steep cliff, and on the southeast side of it is the famous glacier of the same name, which runs further through Lemmerenalp and ending melted lake Daubenzee. Two centuries ago the glacier extends further into the valley, connecting the glacier, sliding from the mountain Shvartshorn. On the southern slope of the Wildstrubel glacier is another called the Plaine Morte. In the last 100 years the glacier has decreased significantly and is expected by the end of this century ice massif melt completely. But to date, the amount of ice is enough to establish skiing at Wildstrubel even in summer.

And even though the surface of the Wildstrubel, and is dotted with river beds flowing above the mountain streams, now on its slopes not found any ground source. But at the foot located just two keys: Zimmenkvelle Retlitsberge on the upper reaches of the village of Lenk and the Source de la Liène Ravilshtauzee over the lake in the canton of Valais, the water of the last beat of a vertical cliff into the lake, just like out of a faucet.
